Description

Job Opportunity: Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT)

Location: Columbia, South Carolina
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Position Details

  • Specialty: Respiratory / Neuro Diagnostics
  • Shift: 3 shifts per week, 12 hours each, Nights (7 PM - 7 AM)
  • Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend
  • On-call: No
  • Floating: May be required to float within scope to sister facilities based on census and staffing needs

Required Qualifications

  • Valid Respiratory Therapist license in South Carolina
  • Minimum 2 years of experience as a Respiratory Therapist, including experience within the last year
  • Certifications:
    • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
    • BLS (Basic Life Support)
    • PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support)
    • NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program)
  • Experience with Epic electronic health record system

Additional Requirements

  • Background Checks:
    • Must include SSN trace, multi-county checks, statewide, sex offender registry, national criminal, and FACIS 3
    • Must be run within 90 days of start
    • EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks required within 30 days of start and updated for renewals
  • Education Verification: Required; diploma or transcripts accepted as placeholder if verification pending
  • References: Proof of 2 clinical references required, including at least one from the unit of assignment
  • Employment History: Verification of last 3 clinical employers required
  • Physical Exam: Must be current within 90 days of start, confirming ability to work without restrictions
  • Drug Testing: 10-panel drug screen required within 90 days of start
  • Immunizations and Health:
    • Tdap vaccine within 10 years or declination form required
    • Negative TB test (T-spot or Q-Gold) within 90 days of start or proof of prior positive with follow-up chest x-ray
    • Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Varicella: Positive titers or vaccination series required
    • Hepatitis B: Titer, vaccine series, or declination required
    • Flu vaccine required during flu season or medical/religious exemption (no declinations accepted)
    • COVID-19 vaccination highly preferred; declination form required if not vaccinated
  • Respirator Clearance: Annual medical clearance required via RespSafety questionnaire

Orientation and Onboarding

  • Completion of facility-specific orientation modules (approximately 2 hours) prior to start
  • Upload of COVID and flu vaccination documentation into facility system required
  • Clear, passport-style photo required for badge issuance
  • Various facility-specific forms and agreements must be completed prior to start

Work Environment

  • Acute Care Hospital setting with 304 staffed beds
  • Charting system: Epic
  • Parking available at no cost with facility-issued pass
  • Hurricane season (June-November) may require emergency response team participation

Notes

  • First-time travelers accepted
  • Local candidates may be considered on a case-by-case basis
  • Facility may call off 1 shift per 2 weeks
  • Floating between campuses may be required based on staffing needs

This position is ideal for experienced Respiratory Therapists licensed in South Carolina who are comfortable working night shifts in an acute care hospital environment and have experience with Epic electronic health records.
