Description
Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse - CVICU
Location: Albuquerque, New Mexico
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Position Details
- Specialty: Cardiovascular Intensive Care Unit (CVICU)
- Patient Ratios: 1:2
- Years of Experience Required: 2 years
- First-time Travelers: Accepted
- Weekend Requirement: As needed
- On-call: Not required
- Floating: May be floated within scope to other ICUs, PCU floors, ED, and PACU to care for admitted patients
- Block Scheduling: Not guaranteed
- Local Radius Rule: No local candidates within 75 miles accepted
- Pending License: Accepted
- Guaranteed Hours: 36 or 48 contracted hours per week
- Overtime: OT after 48 hours on all contracts signed on or after 10/30/2025
- Minimum Contract Length: 10 weeks for new contracts and extensions
- Traveler Break: 6-month break required after 4 consecutive assignments or 1 year of work, whichever comes first

Licensure
- Must hold an active Registered Nurse (RN) license valid in New Mexico
- Pending licenses accepted
Background and Compliance Requirements
- 7-year criminal background check within 30 days of start, updated annually
- EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks required within one year of start
- Fingerprinting required onsite during orientation (unless completed within past 12 months)
- Education verification required (diploma or transcript acceptable if 3rd party verification unavailable)
- Drug screening required within 30 days of start (negative result)
- Physical exam within 1 year prior to start
- Fit mask test required within 1 year of start (specific N95 masks accepted)
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 1 year of start
- Required immunizations or titers: Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Varicella, Hepatitis B
- Flu vaccination required year-round with exemptions accepted
- COVID vaccination required with religious and medical exemptions accepted (exemption form required)
Additional Requirements
- Two professional references within three years of hire
- Complete employment application including at least 3 years of work history
- Skills checklist and work history verification required
- Medication and dysrhythmia competency exams required (Relias Basic Dysrhythmia Exam with minimum passing scores)
- Orientation safety manual acknowledgement
- Crisis Prevention Institute (CPI) certification may be required depending on unit
- Management of Assaultive Behavior (MAB) certification required for behavioral health units

Requirements / Qualifications
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in New Mexico
- Minimum 2 years of CVICU experience, including experience within the last year
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
- ACLS certification issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
- BLS certification issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
- Experience with post-operative open heart patients
- Proficient in bedside tach/peg and bedside surgical procedures
- Skilled in CRRT (Continuous Renal Replacement Therapy)
- Experience with ECMO (Extracorporeal Membrane Oxygenation)
