Description
Registered Nurse - CVICU
Location: Madison, Wisconsin
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Details
- 12-hour shifts (Day: 0700-1930, Night: 1900-0730)
- Work schedule includes every other weekend and some holidays
- No on-call required
- Cardiovascular Intensive Care Unit (CVICU) experience required
- Experience with NextStage CVVH machine required
- Experience in Cardiothoracic Surgery and/or Acuity Adaptable area preferred
- Basic Arrhythmia experience required
- Must pass a Telemetry test prior to start
Required Qualifications
- Wisconsin Registered Nurse (RN) license
- American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
- American Heart Association (AHA) Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification
- Basic Arrhythmia knowledge and ability to pass Telemetry test
Compliance and Documentation Requirements
- Background check within 90 days prior to start, including SSN trace, nationwide and county searches, sex offender registry
- Education verification as applicable
- State-specific caregiver screening for Wisconsin within 90 days of start
- Drug screening per standard clinical requirements
- Physical exam (must meet agency standard)
- Immunizations and health documents including:
- Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray with TB questionnaire
- MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) vaccination or titers, with medical/religious exemptions accepted
- Varicella vaccination or titer, with medical/religious exemptions accepted
- Hepatitis B vaccination series or declination form
- Seasonal flu vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption (required annually during flu season)
- Meningococcal vaccine or declination (if applicable)
Testing and Competency
- Telemetry test (Adult Telemetry Test) must be completed and passed prior to start and updated annually
- Medication/Pharmacology competency exam as applicable
- Pass/Fail testing for EKG/Medication with remediation process if needed
- Orientation Safety Manual acknowledgment
- Signed acknowledgment of pass/fail testing for Telemetry
Additional Notes
- Two clinical references within the last 3 years required
- Employment application and annual skills checklist required
- Photo for badge must meet specific guidelines (passport-style, no headwear except for religious/medical reasons)
- Various facility-specific forms and waivers related to communicable diseases and vaccine exemptions may be required
This position requires a highly skilled RN with critical care experience in CVICU, strong telemetry and arrhythmia knowledge, and the ability to work rotating 12-hour shifts. Compliance with extensive background, health, and competency requirements is mandatory.
