Unit Information

  • Patient Diagnoses: Multi-trauma, seizure, gunshot wounds (GSW), falls, traumatic brain injury (TBI), stroke, sepsis, psychiatric conditions, epidural hematomas, epidural hemorrhage, cerebral edema, orthopedic-related trauma (non-elective), encephalopathy.
  • Unit Type: Major Trauma Unit
  • Special Procedures: Craniotomy, spinal fusions, open reduction internal fixation (ORIF), muscle flaps, skin grafts, above-knee amputation (AKA), below-knee amputation (BKA), intramedullary nails, external fixators, spinal stimulators.
  • Float Requirement: May be required to float to other inpatient units.
  • Scheduling: Specific scheduling requests (e.g., block scheduling) cannot be guaranteed.

Requirements/Qualifications

  • Valid RN license in Louisiana
  • Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
  • Med Surg (1 year of experience)
  • Med Surg experience within the last year
  • Experience in neuro surgery
  • Neurosurgery experience

Contract Length

  • 13 weeks

  • Documentation Requirements:

    • Valid driver's license or state ID (color copy required).
    • Various certifications may be required based on unit description.
    • Background checks, health documents, and other compliance requirements must be completed prior to start.
  • Health Requirements:

    • Negative TB test or chest X-ray.
    • Vaccinations (e.g., COVID-19, flu, Tdap, etc.) must be current.
    • Drug screening required.
  • Background Check:

    • A 7-year criminal background check is required.
