Description
Registered Nurse - Orthopedics Travel/Contract Position
Location: Burlington, North Carolina
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Summary
- Work 3x12 hour night shifts (7:00 PM - 7:30 AM)
- Every other weekend required (Saturday and Sunday)
- No on-call duties
- Float as needed
- Charge RN experience required; may be required to work as Charge RN
- Unit size: 29 beds
- Patient population includes adults through geriatrics with orthopedic and medical-surgical needs
- Telemetry monitoring available
- Physical therapy gym on unit for patient rehab
- High volume of total joint replacements, fracture repairs, kyphoplasties
- Moderate volume of other surgical and medical patients, including 24-hour observation
Required Qualifications
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in North Carolina
- Minimum 2 years of orthopedic nursing experience, with at least some experience within the last year
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
- Current BLS certification issued by the American Heart Association or American Red Cross
- Prior travel nursing experience
- Experience in Charge RN roles
Certifications
- BLS (Basic Life Support) - AHA or ARC approved
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) may be required depending on unit
- Pass/Fail EKG/Dysrhythmia competency exam (must pass with minimum 82%)
- Orientation safety manual acknowledgement
- Other certifications as applicable per unit or specialty
Scheduling & Work Environment
- Night shift, 7 PM to 7:30 AM, 3 shifts per week
- Every other weekend required
- No call responsibilities
- Floating to other units as needed
- Charge RN duties as assigned
Additional Notes
- Strict zero-tolerance policy for tardiness and unexcused absences
- Candidate must be flexible with scheduling
- Compliance deadlines must be met prior to start date
- Candidate must be aware of and agree to pass/fail EKG exam requirement
- Badge photo must meet strict facility requirements (no selfies, solid color background, business casual or uniform attire)
This position is ideal for experienced Registered Nurses with orthopedic and medical-surgical experience who have prior travel contract experience and are comfortable working night shifts with charge nurse responsibilities.
