Registered Nurse - Emergency Department

Job Summary

Provide nursing care in the Emergency Department of a 95-bed acute care facility serving all age groups. The unit includes 7 beds, 2 psych rooms, and 2 hall beds with a patient ratio of 5:1. The electronic health record system used is EDIS.

Work Schedule

• Weekly guaranteed hours: 36
• Weekend hours: Every other weekend / as needed
• Call requirements: As needed
• Float requirements: As needed

Required Qualifications

• Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Tennessee
• Minimum 1 year of Emergency Department (ED) nursing experience within the last year
• Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
• Required certifications prior to start:

  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support)
  • BLS (Basic Life Support)
  • ENPC (Emergency Nursing Pediatric Course)
  • PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support)
  • TNCC (Trauma Nursing Core Course)
  • HWC (Health Worker Certification) or CPI (Crisis Prevention Institute)

Skills and Experience

• Prior Emergency Room experience is required
• Professional demeanor with ability to remain calm in chaotic situations
• Team player who supports staff and respects department expectations
• Strong clinical judgment and willingness to learn and improve processes
• Effective communication skills; asks questions when uncertain
• Avoids gossip and drama; focuses on solutions

Orientation and Additional Information

• Orientation sessions held weekly on Mondays
• Candidates must be located 60 miles or more from the facility to qualify as travel staff
• Dress code: Scrubs of any color allowed; no outerwear with logos/prints except hospital logo, no hoodies, no open-toed shoes, limited jewelry for safety reasons
