Registered Nurse (Telemetry) - Travel Position

Location: Alexandria, Louisiana
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Hours per Week: 36


Unit Information

  • Unit Type: Trauma/Ortho/Med-Surg
  • Number of Beds: 36
  • Staff on Unit: 49 total
  • Typical Nurse-to-Patient Ratio: 1:6
  • Shift Staffing (Day): 1 Charge Nurse, 3 RNs, 3 LPNs, 3 PCTs, 1 Secretary
  • Shift Staffing (Night): 1 Charge Nurse, 3 RNs, 3 LPNs, 3 PCTs
  • Equipment Used: IV pumps, Wound Vacs, SCD pumps, Kangaroo Pumps, Chest Tubes, Telemetry, PCA pumps, Bipaps, Epidurals
  • EMR system used (not specified)

Required Qualifications

  • Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Louisiana
  • Minimum 1 year of Med-Surg/Telemetry nursing experience within the last year
  • Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
  • Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification

Skills and Experience

Must Have:

  • Med-Surg experience
  • Critical thinking skills
  • Team player attitude

Preferred:

  • Prioritization skills
  • Time management skills

Typical Procedures Performed

  • Wound Vac changes
  • Wound care
  • IV insertions
  • Insertion of indwelling Foley catheters

Work Environment and Expectations

  • Floating to other units: 6A, 3A, 3South, 4South
  • Dress code: Ceil blue scrubs, no sweatshirts, no crocs
  • Weekend shifts: Every other weekend
  • On-call: Required when census is low

Personality Fit

  • Willingness to work collaboratively as part of a team

This position is a travel assignment in telemetry nursing with a focus on trauma, orthopedic, and medical-surgical patient care.
