Registered Nurse (CVOR) - Travel/Contract
Location: Saint Louis, Missouri
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Details
- Schedule: Night shifts, 3x12-hour shifts (18:15 - 06:45)
- Call Requirement: Weekend on-call required; 3-4 weekday and 1-2 weekend call shifts per 6-week schedule, variable based on unit needs
- Floating: May float within service line as needed
- Block Schedule: Not accommodated
- Local Candidates: Not accepted (home must be at least 75 miles from facility)
- Pending License: Accepted
- Maximum Return to Office (RTO) Restrictions: No more than 7 days
Unit & Specialty Information
- Specialty: Cardiovascular Operating Room (CVOR)
- Scrub and circulate experience required for cardiac, thoracic, and vascular cases
- Cases include cardiac, thoracic, vascular (open and endovascular), transplant (liver, kidney, pancreas), and pancreatic procedures (Whipples)
- Facility Type: Short Term Acute Care, Level 1 Trauma, Teaching Hospital
- Charting System: EPIC
Required Qualifications
- Valid RN license in Missouri
- CVOR (2 years of experience)
- CVOR experience within the last year
- BLS issued by American Heart Association
- ACLS issued by American Heart Association
- Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
Additional Requirements & Compliance
- On-call as needed, variable shifts including holidays (discussed in advance)
- Physical exam within 1 year of start required
- Drug testing within 1 year of start, must include specific panels and be current throughout assignment
- Fit mask testing required and must be renewed annually
- Immunizations and health documentation required:
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 1 year
- Tdap vaccine or declination (with exceptions for certain units)
- Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Varicella immunity or vaccination/declination as applicable
- Seasonal flu vaccination or approved exemption required during flu season
- Background checks required including criminal, education verification, EPLS/GSA/SAM, HHS/OIG, and state-specific searches
- Professional references: Two required, preferably supervisors within the last year
- Unit-specific competency exams and skills checklists required and must be updated annually
- Orientation modules through online learning platform required before start (approximately 16 hours)
- Facility-specific documents such as HIPAA acknowledgement, confidentiality form, latex allergy questionnaire, hand hygiene, fingernail, and dress code policies must be reviewed and signed prior to start
Important Notes
- Parking: Monthly parking passes available for a fee; no charge for straight night shifts in employee parking
- Candidates must adhere to facility policies including dress code and fingernail standards or risk being sent home
- Candidates must complete all required documentation and certifications prior to start to be cleared for assignment
Prior Travel Experience
- Not explicitly required
This position is ideal for experienced CVOR RNs with strong scrub and circulate skills in cardiac, thoracic, and vascular surgeries, who are comfortable with night shifts and on-call responsibilities in a Level 1 Trauma teaching hospital setting.
