Physical Therapist - Contract Position
Location: Lawrence, Massachusetts
Employment Type: Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Summary
Provide physical therapy services to residents to maximize their functional abilities and independence in activities of daily living. Collaborate with residents, caregivers, and healthcare team members to develop and implement therapeutic plans of care.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform evaluative and therapeutic procedures under physician or healthcare provider orders.
- Evaluate residents and establish therapeutic plans including goals, frequency, duration, and modalities.
- Incorporate resident and caregiver input into therapy goals.
- Consult with physicians and healthcare team regarding care plans and discharge needs.
- Monitor and adjust treatment plans based on resident progress.
- Document all interactions and treatments clearly in the medical record.
- Recommend and instruct on appropriate assistive devices.
- Provide education to residents and caregivers; document teaching outcomes.
- Collaborate with Physical Therapist Assistants and other therapy professionals.
- Comply with Medicare, Medicaid, and other reimbursement regulations in documentation.
- Provide in-service education and maintain current clinical skills.
- Assist in developing new rehabilitation programs and services.
- Supervise assistant-level staff as appropriate, ensuring compliance with state and professional standards.
- Mentor new staff during orientation.
- Maintain cleanliness and infection control in clinical areas.
- Maintain required licenses, certifications, and complete annual compliance courses.
Required Qualifications
- Valid Physical Therapist license in Massachusetts
- Physical Therapist (3 years of experience)
- Physical Therapist experience within the last year
- Bachelor's degree
- Experience in a Long Term Care setting
Experience
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in Rehabilitation Therapy (based on specialty requirement).
- Prior travel experience is not required.
Physical Demands
- Ability to perform tasks involving sitting, standing, walking, bending, stooping, twisting, and reaching.
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds; lifts above 50 pounds require assistance.
- Frequent lifting/carrying up to 20 pounds.
- Must be able to perform all essential functions with or without reasonable accommodation.
