Respiratory Therapist (RRT) - Travel Position
Location: Salem, Virginia
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Employment Type: Travel
Unit Information
- Department: Respiratory Therapy
- Facility Size: 500+ beds
- Staff: Approximately 30 respiratory therapists
- Shifts:
- Day Shift: 6 therapists including charge person
- Night Shift: 5 therapists including charge person
- Patient Ratios: Not specified
- Equipment Used: EPOC Blood Gases, PB 840, Newport, ReVel, LTV, V60
- Electronic Medical Record (EMR) System: Meditech
- Floating Areas: CICU, SICU, MICU, step down units
- Dress Code: Royal Blue scrubs
- Weekend/On-call: Rotating weekends, 3 twelve-hour night shifts (7pm – 7am)
Required Qualifications
- Valid Respiratory Therapist license in Virginia
- Minimum 2 years of Respiratory Therapist experience, including experience within the last year
- NBRC certification
- BLS (Basic Life Support)
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support)
- NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program)
- PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support)
- De-escalation skills in a healthcare setting
- Respiratory Therapist Competency Exam or USP 800 Hazardous Drug Risk certification
- Bipap management experience
Skills and Procedures
- Must Have:
- Basic floor therapies including Nebulizer treatments, Chest Physiotherapy (CPT), Nocturnal Pulse Oximetry, and obtaining Arterial Blood Gases (ABGs)
- Bipap management
- Preferred:
- Ventilator and Bipap management
- ICU experience
- Typical Procedures:
- Handheld Nebulizer (HHN)
- CPT
- Bipap and ventilator management
- Extubation
Additional Information
- Weekly hours: Approximately 36 hours per week
- No prior travel experience explicitly required for this role
This position is suitable for experienced Respiratory Therapists seeking a travel assignment in a large acute care setting with diverse respiratory therapy responsibilities and opportunities to float to critical care units.
