Registered Nurse (NICU) - Travel Assignment

Location: Wichita, Kansas
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Hours per Week: 36


Unit Information

  • Unit Type: Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU)
  • Number of Beds: 84
  • Number of Staff: 160 (including Charge CNC Nurse, RN, Unit Secretaries, Respiratory Therapists)
  • Patient Ratios: 2:1 in NICU, 3:1 in NSCU
  • Equipment Used: Medela, Alaris, Ohmeda, Drager, Philips and GE ECG machines
  • Electronic Medical Record (EMR): Neonatal Notes Manager / Meditech

Required Qualifications

  • Valid RN license in Kansas
  • Minimum 1 year of recent experience in Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU)
  • Current certifications: BLS (Basic Life Support) and NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program)
  • Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) / Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
  • De-escalation skills in healthcare settings

Preferred Qualifications

  • Level IV NICU experience
  • Prior experience with Meditech EMR system
  • Experience traveling to large teaching facilities

Typical Procedures Performed

  • IV therapy
  • Whole Body Cooling
  • Surgical cases including NEC (Necrotizing Enterocolitis), PDA (Patent Ductus Arteriosus), CVC (Central Venous Catheter)
  • PDA ligations
  • High Frequency Ventilation
  • Chest tube management
