Position Details

Unit Information

  • Unit Type: ICU / PCU with Trauma and Burn focus
  • Number of Beds: 30
  • Staffing:
    • Total Staff: 85
    • Day Shift: 1 CNC/Relief Charge; RN and PCT numbers vary based on census
    • Night Shift: 1 CNC/Relief Charge; RN and PCT numbers vary based on census
  • Patient Ratios:
    • ICU: 2:1
    • PCU: 4:1
  • Equipment: Critical Care Equipment, Burn ICU and Trauma ICU Technology
  • EMR System: Meditech

Required Skills and Experience

  • Valid RN license in Texas
  • ICU - Intensive Care Unit experience (minimum 1 year), with experience within the last year
  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support) certification
  • BLS (Basic Life Support) certification
  • Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
  • Trauma experience
  • Burn experience

Typical Procedures

  • Wound care
  • Codes (emergency response)
  • EVDs (External Ventricular Drains)
  • MTP (Massive Transfusion Protocol)

Certifications and Licenses Required

  • Registered Nurse License
  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support)
  • BLS (Basic Life Support)
  • NIH Certification

Work Environment and Culture

  • Team-based unit
  • Encourages asking questions and helping others
  • Dress Code: Royal Blue scrubs
  • Floating Areas: MSICU, CVICU, Neuro ICU, or any PCU unit
  • Weekend Requirement: 2 weekends per pay period
