Job Opportunity: Operating Room Registered Nurse
Location: Aurora, Colorado
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Details
- Unit: Operating Room (41 ORs), Level 1 Trauma Center
- Shift: 12-hour shifts starting at 6:45 AM, with occasional floats to 8:45 AM, 10:45 AM, and night shifts (no more than 3 night shifts per contract)
- Hours per Week: 36 hours (typically 3 shifts per week)
- Weekend Requirements: As needed per unit needs
- On-Call Requirements: Approximately 3 shifts per 8-week schedule period, as needed
- Float: May need to float within scope to other Operating Rooms in the facility
- Patient Ratio: 1:1
- Types of Cases: General, GU/GYN, Neuro, ENT, Plastic surgery
Required Qualifications
- Valid RN license in Colorado
- Minimum 3 years of Operating Room nursing experience, including experience within the last year
- One completed travel assignment
- Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
- BLS certification issued by the American Heart Association
- Trauma experience
- Experience with Epic Electronic Health Record system
Compliance and Documentation Requirements
- Valid Driver’s License/State ID (clear copies front and back)
- E-Verify or Attestation
- Proof of legal name change if applicable
- Background Checks (within 60 days of start):
- 7-year background check including SSN trace, Colorado Statewide CBI, education verification (accredited nursing school), FACIS III, sex offender search, OFAC sanctions list
- Employment and work history verification for the last 3 years (gaps >30 days must be explained)
- References: 2 references from the last 2 years, including one from the last year, from Charge RN, Manager, or Supervisor
- Colorado CAPS Check Results (within 60 days of start)
Health and Safety Requirements
- Physical exam within 1 year of start, signed by MD, DO, NP, or PA
- Fit mask test within 12 months of start (3M 1860S, 1860R, 1870/1870+ masks accepted)
- Immunizations and titers:
- Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (within 10 years or signed declination)
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 1 year (QGold/TSpot or True 2-Step PPD)
- Measles, Mumps, Rubella (MMR) immunity by titer or vaccination
- Hepatitis B immunity or vaccination series or declination
- Varicella immunity or vaccination
- COVID-19 vaccination proof or signed declination (acceptable vaccines: AstraZeneca, Pfizer, Moderna)
- Drug testing within 30 days of start and updated annually (specific drug panel required)
- Color Blindness: Must pass Ishihara exam prior to start (online testing not accepted)
Competency and Training Requirements
- Medication/Pharmacology competency exam (updated annually)
- Core competency exams (Parts I, II, III) with minimum 80% score, updated annually
- Dysrhythmia/EKG competency exam (updated annually)
- OSHA mandatory training (updated annually)
- Facility-specific new employee orientation modules to be completed within first two weeks of assignment
Additional Notes
- Time off (RTO) is limited to 10 days maximum and is not allowed during certain blackout periods in 2026
- Flexibility may be considered for harder-to-fill positions
- Guaranteed hours are not provided
This position is ideal for experienced Operating Room Registered Nurses with trauma experience who are seeking a travel contract in a Level 1 Trauma Center environment.
