Physical Therapist - Inpatient Rehab
Location: Crescent City, California
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Summary
Seeking a full-time Physical Therapist to work in a hospital setting with a focus on inpatient rehabilitation. The role involves assessing, planning, organizing, and participating in rehabilitative programs to improve patient mobility, relieve pain, increase strength, and correct disabling conditions caused by disease or injury.
Work Schedule
- Day shift, Monday through Friday
- 8 hours per day (8:00 AM to 4:30 PM)
- 40 hours per week
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and implement individualized physical treatment programs to maintain, improve, or restore physical function and alleviate pain.
- Complete and document patient evaluations and tests according to standards and regulations.
- Develop and update patient Plans of Care based on assessments and diagnoses.
- Provide and progress treatment per Plan of Care.
- Complete all required documentation related to therapy and charge capture.
- Coordinate patient care with other healthcare providers and support team members.
- Provide clinical supervision to assistants and aides.
- Serve as a clinical instructor for assigned students.
- Maintain a clean, safe working environment and properly clean/disinfect equipment.
- Participate in quality improvement and interdisciplinary projects.
- Adhere to all local, state, and federal regulations, policies, and procedures to ensure patient privacy and safety.
Required Qualifications
- Valid Physical Therapist license in California
- Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification
Background and Compliance Requirements
- 7-year background check required within 6 months of start, including Social Security trace, county searches, sex offender search, education verification, and FACIS Level 3 screening.
- Annual updates required for EPLS/GSA/SAM, HHS/OIG, and FACIS screenings.
- Education verification of highest level achieved is required unless highest education is high school.
- Must comply with facility-specific documents and policies, including standards of business conduct, vendor training, code of conduct, and regulatory orientation.
- TB Screening Questionnaire required within 90 days of start and renewed annually.
- Physical exam required within 1 year of start.
- Fit mask test required within 1 year of start and renewed annually (with accommodations considered for religious exemptions or failed tests).
- Immunization and health document requirements include:
- Adult Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap within 10 years.
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 90 days of start, renewed annually.
- Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Hepatitis B, and Varicella immunity or vaccination documentation.
- Seasonal flu vaccination or signed declination during flu season (Nov 1 - Apr 30).
- Negative 9-panel drug screen within 6 months of start (excluding marijuana/cannabinoids due to California law).
Additional Requirements
- Must have full 7 years of work history documented in the application with no gaps.
- Two professional references required within 3 years for clinical and allied health candidates.
- Unit-specific skills checklist required and must be renewed annually.
Notes
- Flexible shift assignments may be required.
- Clinical supervision and student instruction are part of the role.
- Strict confidentiality of patient Protected Health Information (PHI) must be maintained.
