Registered Nurse - Ortho (Travel/Contract)

Location: Maryville, Tennessee
Shift: Nights, 3 shifts per week, 12 hours each (18:45 - 07:15)
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Job Details

• Floating to like units may be required based on skill set.
• Weekend coverage every other weekend (subject to change).
• Medication system used: Omnicell.
• Must have at least 1 year of EPIC experience.

Required Qualifications

• Valid RN license in Tennessee.
• Minimum 1 year of orthopedics experience within the last year, including orthopedic surgery experience.
• One completed travel assignment.
• Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing.
• Required certifications:

  • ACLS - Advanced Cardiac Life Support issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
  • BLS - Basic Life Support issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
  • NIH Stroke Certification
• Experience with Epic.

Compliance and Documentation Requirements

• Driver’s License/State ID required immediately upon signing for computer access and must be carried on duty.
• Background check: 7-year history within 12 months of start, including alias and multi-state searches.
• EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks required within 30 days of start and every 30 days thereafter.
• Education verification of highest level required; diplomas not accepted as placeholders.
• Primary source verification of state license within 30 days of start; license must not expire within 30 days of start.
• Drug screening: 5-panel drug test within 1 year of start, updated annually.
• Physical exam within 1 year of start attesting ability to meet physical demands.
• Immunizations and health documents required (not exhaustive):

  • Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 90 days of start.
  • Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap vaccine within last 10 years (if working/floating in high-risk areas).
  • Flu vaccine or approved exemption required by deadlines.
  • Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Varicella: positive titer or 2 vaccines (second vaccine can be pending if collected within 28 days).
  • Hepatitis B vaccination series, positive titer, or signed declination.

Orientation and Training

• Completion of online Cornerstone modules within 72 hours of assignment; required before start.
• Pass/Fail testing for medication and arrhythmia exams required prior to orientation (two attempts allowed, 84% passing score).
• Annual competency exams and core training (Parts I, II, III) required, including OSHA, patient safety, and ethical care topics.
• HIPAA training and orientation safety manual acknowledgment required annually.

Additional Notes

• Badge photo required prior to start (passport-style, plain background, no alterations).
• Floating policy acknowledgment may be required (not for this specific location).
• Respirator fit test (N95) completed onsite during orientation.
• Candidates must be prepared for computerized testing (Chrome browser recommended, no mobile devices).
