Description

Registered Nurse (Emergency Department) - Travel Position

Location: New Braunfels, Texas
Employment Type: Travel, Full Time
Shift: Nights, 7 PM – 7 AM
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Job Summary

  • Provide independent nursing care in an emergency department setting, managing routine and complex patient needs.
  • Utilize the nursing process: assessment, diagnosis, planning, intervention, and evaluation.
  • Address psychological, emotional, cultural, and social needs of patients and families.
  • Administer medications and treatments per protocol, monitoring for side effects and effectiveness.
  • Document patient history, symptoms, medications, and care provided.
  • Educate patients, families, and caregivers, identifying issues and resources.
  • Make appropriate assignments and delegate tasks to other care providers.

Required Qualifications

  • Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) or Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN).
  • Valid RN license in Texas.
  • 1 year of Emergency Department (ED) experience.
  • Emergency Department experience within the last year.
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
  • Current Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification.
  • Current Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification.
  • Current Trauma Nursing Core Course (TNCC) certification.

Orientation & Onboarding

  • New experienced RNs must complete New Nurses Orientation within 30 days of hire.
  • New hires receive preceptorship by a trained staff member with competency validations, including emergency department-specific competencies.
  • Newly licensed RNs may participate in a residency or specific orientation program with documented skills and competency completion.
  • Annual competency verification is required.

Additional Information

  • Must meet applicable leadership competencies (Leader of Self, Others, or Leaders).
  • Practice consistent with ANA Scope and Standards of Practice.

Note: Prior travel experience is not specified as a requirement.
