Position Details

Specialty: Registered Nurse (RN)

Contract Length: 13 weeks

Unit Information

Unit: Oncology ICU (7ES)
Number of Beds: 10
Staffing:
- Day Shift: 1 charge nurse, 3 RNs, 2 CNAs, 1-3 sitters (no techs)
- Night Shift: 1 charge nurse and nurses as needed (no techs)
Patient Ratios: 2:1
Equipment Used: Ventilators, CRRT, A-line, Bipap, Flow-track, IV pumps
Electronic Medical Record (EMR): Meditech

Required Skills & Experience

Minimum Specialty Experience: 1 year ICU experience
Must Have:
- Strong ICU experience
- Titrating drips
- Caring for patients on ventilators
- Bipap patient care
Preferred Skills:
- CRRT experience
- Transplant experience (Kidney, Pancreas, Liver)

Certifications & Licenses

ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support)
BLS (Basic Life Support)
NIH Certification
Registered Nurse License

Work Environment & Expectations

Typical Procedures: Care of critically ill patients including total care, turning, titrating drips, dressing changes, trach care
Personality Fit: Compassionate, team player, good rapport with physicians
Floating Areas: All ICUs, PCU, BMT
Dress Code: Blue scrubs
Shift Times: Report at 0645 and 1845, clock in/out for lunch
Schedule: Rotating weekends

Requirements/Qualifications

Valid RN license in Texas
ICU - Intensive Care Unit (1 year of experience)
ICU - Intensive Care Unit experience within the last year
ACLS
BLS
Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
Experience caring for patients on Bipap
Bone Marrow Transplant experience
PCU - Progressive Care Unit experience
