ICU Registered Nurse Travel/Contract Job - Fort Lauderdale, Florida

Job Details

• Contract Length: 13 weeks
• Shift: Nights, every other week (EOW), with float and holiday shifts as needed
• Unit: High acuity Respiratory Care Unit (Stepdown)
• Patient Ratio: 3:1 nurse-patient ratio, up to 4:1 depending on staffing
• Travel Pairs: Not considered

Required Experience

• Minimum 3 years recent critical care experience with acute and chronically ill patients requiring ventilator support
• Experience in Trauma and Neuro critical care required

Preferred Experience

• Charge RN experience
• Experience in SICU, MICU, Trauma, and Stroke units

Required Qualifications

• Valid RN license in Florida
• ICU - Intensive Care Unit (3 years of experience)
• ICU - Intensive Care Unit experience within the last year
• ACLS issued by American Heart Association
• BLS issued by American Heart Association
• NIHSS issued by American Heart Association
• Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
• Experience working with Level 1 Trauma or Level 2 Trauma patients
• Experience with acute and chronically ill patients requiring ventilator support
• Stroke experience
• Experience with Epic electronic health record system

Certifications & Competencies

• Medication Test/Pharmacology Competency Exam (required for nursing)
• Annual skills checklist and competency exams as applicable
• Background check within 6 months including all locations lived/worked/schooled in past 7 years
• Physical exam within 6 months (signed by DO, MD, NP, APRN, or PA)
• Negative QuantiFERON TB test within 6 months (TSPOT and PPD not accepted)
• Annual fit mask test with approved masks (3M 1860 Regular or Small)
• Negative 10-panel drug screen within 12 months (instant tests not accepted)
• Immunizations or proof of immunity for Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Varicella, Hepatitis B
• Annual TB questionnaire
• Seasonal flu vaccination or declination during flu season (Oct 1 - Mar 31)

Orientation & Training Requirements

• Completion of online clinical orientation modules including but not limited to:

  • Privacy Policy, AHCA Affidavit, Demographic Information Sheet
  • ICU Medical modules (e.g., Attaching Spiros, IV Medication, Recognizing Impairment)
  • Annual Risk Management, Compliance & Ethics, Code of Conduct, Emergency Management, Harassment Prevention
  • Specialty nursing modules such as Stroke Core Measures, End of Life, Procedural Sedation, Dysphagia and Aspiration Precautions
  • Additional nursing-specific modules (e.g., Pharmaceutical Waste, Safe Injection Practices, Blood Administration)
• Certificates of completion must be saved and submitted as required

Additional Requirements

• Government-issued photo ID must be carried during hours of service
• Professional references: 2 required from within the last 2 years (state mandated for all direct patient contact roles)
• Photo for badge: passport-style, color, white background, head and shoulders visible, no hats or sunglasses
• Florida AHCA Level II fingerprint clearance required prior to start (results within 30 days of start date)
• Education verification required; candidates from fraudulent nursing schools will be disqualified
• Local candidates within 60-mile radius considered

This position is ideal for experienced critical care RNs with strong trauma and neuro skills, comfortable working nights in a high-acuity respiratory care stepdown unit, and who meet the comprehensive licensing, certification, and training requirements.
