NICU Registered Nurse Travel/Contract Job - Portland, Oregon
Job Details
- Position: NICU Registered Nurse (Level III)
- Location: Portland, Oregon
- Employment Type: Travel/Contract
- Contract Length: 13 weeks
- Shift: Night (3 shifts per week, 12 hours each; 7:00 PM to 7:00 AM)
- Hours per Week: 36
- Patient Ratios: 1:1, 2:1, or 3:1 depending on unit needs
- Floating: Required to float between units and possibly to other nearby facilities based on skill set and unit needs
- On-Call: Yes, as agreed upon by the nurse
- Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend
- Block Schedules: Not required
- Vehicle: Must have a vehicle for this assignment

Required Qualifications
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Oregon
- Minimum 2 years of Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) experience, with NICU experience within the last year
- Current certifications issued by the American Heart Association:
- Basic Life Support (BLS)
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS)
- Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS)
- Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
- Valid Driver’s License
Background and Compliance Requirements
- Government-issued photo ID and Social Security Card (as applicable)
- Background check within 90 days of start, covering all locations lived/worked in past 7 years; must be updated annually
- E-Verify attestation required
- Education verification required for nursing degree; international education requires additional documentation
- State-specific searches and registries as applicable
- Drug screening: 9-panel drug screen within 12 months of start (instant acceptable)
- Physical exam within 1 year of start, signed by MD, NP, PA, or DO, indicating ability to work with or without accommodation
- Immunizations and health screenings required:
- TDAP vaccine within 10 years (declination accepted)
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 12 months (annual updates required)
- MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) vaccination or positive titer
- Hepatitis B vaccination or signed declination
- Varicella vaccination or positive titer
- Seasonal flu vaccine during flu season (declination accepted)
- COVID vaccination record preferred; declinations not required but unvaccinated must follow infection prevention protocols
- Respiratory safety clearance required annually for respirator use (travel only)
- Fit mask testing required for travel starts (updated annually)
- Annual regulatory and specialty-specific training modules required via LMS platform
Additional Notes
- Floating policy acknowledgment required; may be required to float to other facilities within reasonable distance
- Must be willing to work night shifts and every other weekend
- 48-hour shifts are approved
- Facility provides scrub colors for OR/Cath Lab; other units allow any color
- Badge photo required (passport style with neutral background)
- Epic training modules required and must be completed within orientation timeframe
