Description
Registered Nurse – ER (Columbus, Ohio)
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Shift: Night (7:00 PM – 7:30 AM), 3 shifts per week (12 hours each)
Hours per Week: 36
Job Description
- Work in Emergency Room (ER) setting with a patient ratio of approximately 1:3.5
- Utilize EPIC for documentation and Pyxis medication system
- Float to other units as required
- Weekend shifts every other or every third weekend
- First-time travel nurses accepted
Required Experience & Skills
- Valid RN license in Ohio
- Minimum 2 years of Emergency Department (ED) experience, including experience within the last year
- Trauma care experience
- Dysrhythmia interpretation
- Procedural sedation experience
- Ventilated patients care
- Psychiatric holds management
- Pediatric emergency care
Required Certifications & Licenses
- BLS issued by American Heart Association
- ACLS issued by American Heart Association
- PALS issued by American Heart Association
- CPI
Education
- Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
Orientation & Training
- 36 hours of orientation provided
- Unit-specific competency exams required, including:
- Medication/Pharmacology competency exam (required prior to start)
- Dysrhythmia/EKG competency exam (must be passed within 1 year of start, with remediation process if needed)
Background & Compliance Requirements
- 7-year criminal background check within 90 days of start, including FBI and BCI fingerprinting (Ohio-specific code 3701.881)
- Pending background check attestation required if fingerprint results are pending at start
- Education verification from an accredited nursing program (CCNE, ACEN, or NLN CNEA)
- License verification within 30 days of start
- 2 professional references required (at least one from a manager or formal leadership)
- Employment application and skills checklist required
Health & Immunization Requirements
- Physical exam within 1 year of start confirming good health and free of contagious disease
- Negative TB test or chest x-ray within 1 year (or TB questionnaire annually)
- Tdap vaccine (adult dose after age 11/12) required
- MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) – 2 vaccines or positive titer required
- Varicella – 2 vaccines or positive titer required (medical exemptions reviewed)
- Hepatitis B titer or 3-vaccine series (declination acceptable)
- Seasonal flu vaccine or declination during flu season (10/1 – 3/31)
- Negative 10-panel drug screen within 3 months of start (no pending drug screens allowed)
- Fit mask test required annually for inpatient/patient-facing roles starting 7/13/2026 and beyond
Additional Facility Policies
- Dress code and hand hygiene policy must be reviewed and signed
- Confidential Fraud, Waste, Abuse, and Compliance Reporting training and acknowledgment required
- Ethics and compliance policies must be reviewed and signed annually

Prior Travel Experience
- No prior travel experience required; first-time travelers accepted
