Job Opportunity: Labor and Delivery Registered Nurse (RN) - Travel/Contract
Location
- Seattle, Washington
Position Details
- Specialty: Labor and Delivery Registered Nurse (L&D RN)
- Employment Type: Travel/Contract
- Shift: Night shift, 3 shifts per week, 12 hours each (7:00 PM to 7:30 AM)
- Contract Length: 13 weeks
- Patient Ratios: 1:1
- Weekend work required
- Floating: Yes, within the hospital (no floating to sister hospitals)
- Block scheduling: Not accommodated
- Locals accepted
- Pending license not accepted
- Return to Office (RTO) restrictions: Maximum 1 week
Unit and Patient Population
- High-risk Level 3 Perinatal center; approximately 70% of patients are complex high risk
- Level 4 NICU regional center on site
- Approximately 150 births per month
- Care includes antepartum, intrapartum, postpartum, and newborn care
- Unit includes 2 operating rooms for C-sections, BTLs, and postpartum D&Cs
- Second L&D RN acts as "baby catcher" for well, non-compromised babies

Required Qualifications
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Washington
- Minimum 3 years of Labor and Delivery nursing experience, including experience within the last year
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association
- Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification
Compliance and Documentation Requirements
- Background checks including 7-year criminal history, EPLS/GSA/SAM, HHS/OIG, sex offender search, and state-specific searches
- Education verification or diploma/transcript required
- Primary source verification of state nursing license required
- Physical exam (completed within 1 year)
- Fit mask test within 9-12 months of start (N95 preferred; PAPR available onsite if needed)
- Immunizations and titers required or declinations accepted with documentation:
- Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (within 10 years)
- Measles (Rubeola)
- Mumps
- Rubella
- Hepatitis B (series completion or declination with waiver)
- Varicella (vaccines or titer; history of disease not accepted)
- Influenza vaccination or medical exemption/declination with education module completion
- COVID vaccination or declination for tracking
- Drug screening: 10-panel drug screen within one year (required by agency, not facility)
- Additional training for L&D RNs:
- Umbilical Cord Blood Collection Training (online quiz and certificate)
- EPIC/Alaris Integration video and attestation
Competency Exams (as applicable)
- Medication/Pharmacology competency exam (minimum 80% in dosage calculations)
- Dysrhythmia/EKG competency exam (if applicable to float or critical care roles)
- Other unit-specific certifications may be required (e.g., ACLS, PALS, CHEMO, TNCC, EFM)
Scheduling and Hours
- Guaranteed hours subject to census; may be called off or placed on-call in 4-hour increments up to one shift per 2-week cycle
- No scheduling on weekends or holidays for ambulatory or surgical services when closed
