Registered Nurse - Oncology (Travel)
Location: Dallas, Texas
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Unit Information
- Unit: 8S Oncology
- Beds: 21 (census currently 8-12)
- Staff per shift:
- Day: 1 charge nurse, 3-4 RNs, 1 Patient Care Technician (PCT)
- Night: 1 charge nurse, 3-4 RNs, 1 PCT
- Patient Ratios: Approximately 1:3-4, flexible up to 1:5
- Equipment: Baxter pumps
- Electronic Medical Record (EMR) system: Meditech
Job Requirements
- Valid RN license in Texas
- BLS
- Oncology experience within the last year
- Minimum 1 year of Oncology nursing experience
- Bone Marrow Transplant experience
- Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
Typical Procedures
- Replacing blood and electrolytes
Work Environment & Policies
- Dress Code: Royal blue scrubs
- Unit Guidelines:
- Neutropenic precautions
- Strict intake and output monitoring
- Chlorhexidine gluconate (CHG) bath and linen change every 24 hours
- Dressing changes every 7 days
- Lines and caps changed every 96 hours
- No children under 16 allowed on the unit
- Floating Areas: Hematology/Oncology, Bone Marrow Transplant units
- Schedule: Rotating weekends, no on-call required
- Typical Work Hours: 36 hours per week
