Description

Job Opportunity: Labor and Delivery Nurse (Travel/Contract)

Location: Bolivia, North Carolina
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Shift: Night (18:45 - 07:15), 3 shifts per week, 12 hours each (36 hours/week)
Patient Population: Labor, Delivery, Recovery, Postpartum (LDRP) and Mother/Baby unit


Job Details

  • Nurse-to-patient ratio: 1:4 (Couplet Care)
  • Call requirement: 2 mandatory call shifts every 6 weeks
  • Weekend requirement: Every other weekend
  • Float requirement: Yes, float to assist other units (no patient assignments on float)
  • Unit orientation: 32 hours
  • Documentation and medication systems: EPIC, Pyxis, SBAR
  • Scrubs: Cecil blue hospital-issued or navy scrubs allowed

Required Qualifications

  • Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in North Carolina
  • Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) / Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
  • Minimum 2 years of Labor and Delivery experience, including experience within the last year
  • Prior travel nursing experience required
  • Certifications:
    • BLS (Basic Life Support) issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
    • AWHONN (Association of Women’s Health, Obstetric and Neonatal Nurses) certification
    • NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program)
  • Skills and clinical competencies:
    • Use of external and internal fetal monitoring (EFM)
    • Labor and Delivery care including LDRP and Mother/Baby care

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with EPIC electronic health record system

Compliance and Onboarding Requirements

  • Background check within 6 months prior to start
  • Drug screening (9-panel, within 6 months)
  • Immunizations and health documents including:
    • Negative TB test or chest X-ray (within 1 year)
    • Measles (Rubeola), Mumps, Rubella, Varicella, Hepatitis B documentation or titers
    • Flu vaccination or approved exemption (mask required if exempt)
  • Photo for badge (passport style, solid white background, business attire) required immediately after contract signing
  • Completion of facility-specific education and compliance training modules prior to start
  • Proof of logging into facility’s learning management system (I-Learn) within 24 hours of account setup
  • Medication Safety training certificate required before starting
  • Mandatory call and float responsibilities as part of the role

Additional Notes

  • Candidates must be prepared for night shifts and floating duties
  • Self-scheduling model for shifts
  • Facility requires adherence to confidentiality and hospital policies
  • Orientation and training modules may take 8-10 hours to complete
  • Candidates must provide all required documentation timely to avoid start delays

This position is ideal for experienced Labor and Delivery RNs with prior travel experience seeking a night shift contract in a supportive LDRP unit environment.
