Job Opportunity: Operating Room Registered Nurse (RN) - Travel/Contract

Location: Beckley, West Virginia
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Shift: Day shift, 4 days per week, 10 hours per day (7:15 AM – 5:45 PM)
Hours per Week: 40 hours

Job Description

• Role: OR RN Circulator
• Required recent experience: Minimum 2 years
• Clinical experience in Orthopedics, Vascular, Gynecology, Robotics, ENT, and General surgical cases
• Float within scope of practice may be required
• On-call schedule: Every 4th weekend and two nights per week
• Staffing ratios may fluctuate based on census and call-ins
• Orientation occurs bi-weekly
• Candidates must reside at least 75 miles from the facility (local candidates not accepted)

Required Certifications

• Basic Life Support (BLS) – AHA Instructor/Provider/RQI
• Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) – AHA Instructor/Provider/RQI
• Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) – AHA Instructor/Provider/RQI

Note: Certifications can be pending with a Certificate of Completion confirming class attendance. Certifications expiring within 30 days of start must be renewed prior to starting.

Required Qualifications

• Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in West Virginia
• Minimum 2 years of Operating Room (OR) nursing experience, including experience within the last year
• Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association
• Current Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association
• Current Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification issued by the American Heart Association
• Clinical experience in Orthopedics, Vascular Surgery, Obstetrics/Gynecology (OB/GYN), and ENT Surgery
• Valid Driver’s License

Health and Safety Requirements

• Physical exam or physician note within 1 year prior to start, stating clear to work without restrictions
• Fit mask test to be completed onsite (PAPR not accommodated with facial hair; medical/religious exemptions possible)
• Immunizations and documentation required prior to start:

  • Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (valid within 10 years; Td not accepted)
  • Negative TB test (Qgold only) within 1 year, renewed annually
  • Proof of 2 MMR vaccinations or positive titers for Rubeola (Measles), Mumps, and Rubella
  • Hepatitis B series, titer, or declination (declination must be within 1 year)
  • Proof of 2 Varicella vaccinations or positive titer
• Drug testing within 30 days of start using specified 9-panel bundle (no THC) with expanded opiates and oxycodone; annual update required
• Seasonal flu vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption required during flu season (9/1–3/31) with strict deadlines for new and returning candidates

Background and Compliance Checks

• Comprehensive background check including:

  • National criminal search, sex offender registry, fugitive database, violent offenders, county searches for last 7 years
  • FACIS 3 or equivalent, EPLS/GSA/SAM, HHS/OIG checks within 30 days prior to start
  • Education verification included in background or third-party verification
• State-specific clearances:

  • West Virginia APS/CPS search results (annual update required)
• Employment application and signed job description (renewed annually)
• Various facility-specific documents and attestations required prior to start, including employee health attestation and safety manual acknowledgment

Additional Notes

• Candidates must have a valid government-issued photo ID (e.g., driver’s license or state ID)
• Must sign assignment confirmation within 24 hours of offer
• Candidates cannot be submitted to more than one job at a time
