RN - PCU
Job Overview
- Specialty: Progressive care / step-down
- Location: Anchorage, Alaska
- Employment type: Travel
- Contract length: 13 weeks
- Shift: 7:00 PM to 7:30 AM
- Hours per week: 36
Required Qualifications
- Valid RN license in Alaska
- PCU - Progressive Care Unit (1 year of experience)
- PCU - Progressive Care Unit experience within the last year
- ACLS
- BLS
- NIHSS
- Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
- Telemetry experience
Unit Details
- 19-bed unit
- Nurse-to-patient ratio: 3:1
- Common equipment includes bedside monitors, IV pumps, high-flow oxygen, BiPAP, chest tubes, tracheostomy support, feeding pumps, gastric tubes, and surgical drains
Preferred Experience
- Step-down ICU / IMC / PCU experience
- Telemetry / cardiac monitoring experience
- Experience with tracheostomy patients requiring continuous BiPAP or long-term ventilator support
- Experience with titratable drips
- Experience with CIWA assessments and alcohol/drug withdrawal treatment
Work Environment
- Fast-paced unit with rapid responses, ED admissions, and ICU transfers
- Team-focused and adaptable candidates are preferred
Floating
- Cardiac surgery IMC
- Med-tele
- Med-surg
- Ortho-neuro
Schedule Expectations
- Every other weekend, or 4 weekend shifts per month
- Bedside handoff is mandatory
- Physical assessments, intake/output, hourly safety rounds, and repositioning/ADLs are part of routine care
