Job Opportunity: Cath Lab Registered Nurse

Location: Port St Lucie, Florida
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Job Description

  • Specialty: Registered Nurse in Cath Lab
  • Required proficiency with:
    • Balloon pump
    • Impella
    • Atherectomy devices
    • Cardiac medication drips
    • Emergency medications
  • STEMI experience required
  • Clinician may float within scope to meet facility needs
  • On-call requirement for evenings and weekends
  • Shift: Day shift, 4x10 hours (7:00 AM – 5:30 PM)
  • Guaranteed hours: 40 hours per week
  • Block scheduling not accommodated
  • Locals accepted at same rate
  • Pending licenses not accepted

Required Qualifications

  • Valid RN license in Florida
  • Cardiac Cath Lab (1.5 years of experience)
  • Cardiac Cath Lab experience within the last year
  • ACLS - Advanced Cardiac Life Support issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
  • BLS - Basic Life Support issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
  • Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
  • Minimum 18 months of RN experience before travel assignments
  • Proficiency with Balloon pump, Impella, and Atherectomy devices
  • Knowledge of cardiac medication drips and emergency medications
  • STEMI experience

Compliance & Documentation Requirements

  • Government-issued photo ID required and must be carried during hours of service
  • Background checks:
    • 7-year criminal background check updated annually
    • EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks within 30 days of start and updated for renewals
  • Florida AHCA Level II fingerprint clearance required prior to start (Livescan electronic fingerprinting accepted nationwide)
  • Physical exam within 6 months of start date
  • Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 1 year, updated annually
  • Immunizations/vaccinations required:
    • Measles, Mumps, Rubella (2 vaccines or positive titer; exemptions apply for candidates born before 1957)
    • Hepatitis B (titer, vaccine series, or declination)
    • Varicella (2 vaccines, titer, or history of chickenpox)
    • Seasonal Influenza vaccine required annually (medical/religious exemptions allowed)
    • COVID-19 initial vaccine series or approved medical/religious exemption required
  • Negative 10-panel drug screen within 1 year of start (no annual update required)
  • Two professional references within 2 years required for travel positions
  • Employment application and skills checklist (updated annually) required

Orientation & Training

  • Orientation scheduled approximately 3-4 weeks from start date
  • Online training modules must be completed by due date prior to start (completed on a computer using Google Chrome; video content must be watched before testing)
  • Modules include COVID documentation submission and other facility-specific training
  • Failure to complete modules on time may delay start
  • Facility issues radiation badges if applicable

Additional Notes

  • Time-sensitive training modules must be prioritized once assignment is confirmed
  • Candidates must be aware of on-call responsibilities during evenings and weekends
  • Candidates with prior background check hits may experience longer clearance times and must provide official court documents if requested
  • Candidates cannot start without fingerprint clearance on file
  • Locals accepted and paid at the same rate as travelers
