Description
Radiation Therapist
Location: Paducah, Kentucky
Schedule: 5 days per week, 8 hours per shift, 8:00 am to 4:30 pm; may occasionally stay over if needed
Contract length: 13 weeks
Overview
Provides radiation therapy care under clinical direction, with responsibilities that include administering ionizing radiation, documenting treatment data, checking charts for mathematical errors, assisting with simulations and immobilization devices, and supporting patient and student education.
Required Qualifications
- Required education is an Associate's Degree in Radiation Therapy.
- ARRT
- Valid Radiation Therapist license in Kentucky
- BLS
- Radiation Therapist (0 years of experience)
- Radiation Therapist experience within the last year
Preferred Qualifications
- Radiation Oncology experience
- Experience using Aria and Varian linear accelerators
Key Responsibilities
- Administer ionizing radiation
- Document accurate treatment data in charts
- Assess patient needs and determine whether physician follow-up is needed
- Check charts for mathematical errors
- Maintain treatment room supplies
- Assist with simulations and fabrication of immobilization devices
- Support and instruct students in radiation therapy-related training
- Communicate with patients, families, staff, physicians, and management
- Secure the area at the end of the shift
