Description

NICU RN

Overview

  • Travel/contract RN role in Clinton, Maryland
  • 13-week assignment
  • Night shift: 3x12, 7:00 PM to 7:00 AM
  • ASAP start
  • Local candidates within 60 miles are accepted at a lower rate

Required Qualifications

  • Valid RN license in Maryland
  • Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
  • BLS - Basic Life Support issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
  • NRP - Neonatal Resuscitation Procedure
  • NICU - Neonatal Intensive Care (2 years of experience)
  • NICU - Neonatal Intensive Care experience within the last year
  • One completed travel assignment
  • Central line management
  • High-flow oxygen delivery
  • Bubble CPAP experience
  • Mechanical ventilation experience
  • Neonatal resuscitation proficiency
  • Thermoregulation management in premature and full-term infants
  • Apnea and bradycardia management in preterm infants
  • Stabilization of newborns less than 32 weeks and preparation for transport to Level III facility
  • BD Alaris Smart Pump proficiency
  • Labor and Delivery experience

Schedule Requirements

  • Every other weekend
  • Every other holiday

Clinical Responsibilities

  • Float to postpartum and labor and delivery for neonatal care
  • Provide care in a Level II special care nursery/NICU setting
  • Manage respiratory support including high-flow oxygen, CPAP, bubble CPAP, and mechanical ventilation
  • Manage central lines
  • Perform peripheral IV insertions and lab draws
  • Administer IV antibiotics
  • Support neonatal resuscitation and stabilization of newborns under 32 weeks for transport to a Level III facility
  • Monitor apnea and bradycardia in pre-term infants
  • Support thermoregulation in pre-term and full-term infants
  • Use point-of-care blood glucose testing and BD Alaris Smart Pumps

Additional Notes

  • Candidate must be proficient in neonatal resuscitation
  • Facility modules are required before start
