PCU Registered Nurse

Overview

Location: Wilmington, North Carolina
Employment type: Travel/Contract
Shift: Nights, 3x12 hours
Hours per week: 36
Contract length: 13 weeks

Required Qualifications

Valid RN license in North Carolina
Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
PCU - Progressive Care Unit (2 years of experience)
PCU - Progressive Care Unit experience within the last year
One completed travel assignment
BLS issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
ACLS
NIHSS
Cardiac Telemetry
Sheath Removal
Interpretation of dysrhythmias
Pre/Post Cardiac Cath
Titrate Cardiac drips
Chest tubes-Emerson/Pleuravac
Non-invasive airway management
Arterial line management
Charge Experience

Key Clinical Experience

Cardiac telemetry
PCU/DOU/IMC/stepdown
Sheath removal
Dysrhythmia interpretation and management
Post-MI care
Pre/post cardiac cath care
Cardiac drip management, including titration
Chest tubes
External CPAP/BIPAP
Nasal cannula and non-invasive airway management

Unit Setting

Ratios vary by acuity
Typical ratios: 1:4 for surgical stepdown and 1:5-6 for lower acuity
Float requirement: follows unit rotation, not first to float
Weekend requirement: 4 per 4 weeks

Additional Notes

RTO after booking is not allowed
Candidates may be assigned to storm or hurricane response duties
Navy scrubs are required
Interview required before offer
