Description
Operating Room Registered Nurse - Travel/Contract
Location: Huntington, West Virginia
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Details
- Shift: Day shifts, 3 twelve-hour shifts per week (6:45 AM - 7:15 PM)
- Weekend work: Usually every other Saturday; weekend shifts available (7 AM-7 PM, 9 AM-9 PM, 11 AM-11 PM)
- No on-call required
- Scrub preferred, circulating required
- Must be able to function in multiple surgical areas including Trauma, Cardiovascular Thoracic (CVT), Neurosurgery, Orthopedics, Cataracts, ENT, etc.
- Quick interview and offer process; traveler-friendly facility
Required Qualifications
- Valid RN license in West Virginia
- OR - Operating Room (1 year of experience)
- OR - Operating Room experience within the last year
- BLS issued by American Heart Association
- Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
Experience
- Specialty: Registered Nurse in Operating Room
- Minimum years of experience: Not explicitly stated; assume standard RN experience for OR travel roles
- Prior travel experience: Not required
Health and Safety Requirements
- Government-issued photo ID required and must be carried during hours of service
- Background checks: 7-year criminal check within one year of start, updated annually; must include all locations lived/worked in past 7 years
- EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks required within 30 days of start and updated for contract renewals
- Physical exam: Initial and annual updates attesting ability to meet physical demands
- Drug screen: Must be within 30 days of start and updated annually; includes multiple drug panels
- Immunizations and titers required (with acceptable medical or religious exemptions):
- Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (within 10 years)
- Measles (Rubeola)
- Mumps
- Rubella
- Hepatitis A, B, and C
- Varicella
- Seasonal flu vaccine required annually (medical/religious exemptions require approval and documentation)
- COVID-19 seasonal vaccine required; declination form required if opting out
- TB screening: Negative TB test or chest X-ray required within 6 months of start, updated annually
- Stroke certification (NIH Stroke Certification) required for PACU and ICU
Documentation and Compliance
- Proof of 2 clinical references or hospital evaluations required
- Complete employment application/resume required
- Skills checklist and performance evaluations required if previously employed by the facility
- Completion of facility-specific forms prior to start, including:
- New hire form
- Confidentiality agreement
- Standards of behavior
- User ID and IT access forms
- OSHA post-test
- Voluntary self-identification
- COVID and vaccine exemption/declination forms as applicable
- Review of hospital policies required (read-only packet)

- Facility provides trauma services and requires flexibility to work across multiple surgical specialties
