Description
Registered Nurse – Special Care Nursery (Travel/Contract)
Location: Baltimore, Maryland
Shift: Night (3 shifts of 12 hours each, 18:50–7:20)
Hours per week: 36 hours
Contract length: 13 weeks
Job Description
- Work in Special Care Nursery (Level II) with required delivery room experience
- Must be able to float to postpartum for baby care assignments
- Every other weekend work required
- Charge nurse and preceptor experience required
- Scrubs provided
Required Qualifications
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Maryland
- Minimum 2 years of nursery experience, including nursery experience within the last year
- One completed travel nursing assignment
- Certifications required before start:
- BLS (Basic Life Support) issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
- NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program)
- Sterile Processing Tech (SPT) certification
- NIHSS certification
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
- Experience in charge nurse roles
- Labor and Delivery experience

- Charge nurse experience required
- Preceptor experience required
Compliance & Documentation Requirements
- Two positive supervisory references supporting at least 2 years of experience within the last 3 years, including one from the most recent assignment
- Complete 7 years of work history with no gaps, including education, employment, license, and contact information
- Criminal background check within 90 days covering all locations lived/worked/schooled in the past 7 years
- Drug screen within 90 days of start (excluding marijuana)
- Annual physical exam confirming ability to work without accommodations and free from communicable disease
- Immunization and health documentation required:
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 1 year
- Tdap vaccine within 10 years (preferred)
- Documentation of MMR (measles, mumps, rubella) and Varicella immunity or vaccination
- Hepatitis B titer, series, or signed declination
- Seasonal flu vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption during flu season
- Annual competency exams including medication/pharmacology and EKG/dysrhythmia testing (if applicable)
- N95 fit test within 9 months of start and updated annually (client may complete onsite if needed)
- Facility-specific orientation modules must be completed prior to start
Additional Notes
- A valid driver’s license is required if driving on behalf of the employer is an essential job function
- Background checks and E-Verify attestations are mandatory prior to hire
- Drug screen and background check must be updated if there is a break in service of 6 months or more
- Must complete facility-required safety and orientation acknowledgments annually
This position is ideal for experienced travel nurses with neonatal special care and delivery room expertise who are comfortable working night shifts and have prior travel assignment experience.
