Description
Registered Nurse – Orthopedic/Trauma
Overview
- Location: Greensboro, North Carolina
- Setting: Acute care hospital
- Contract length: 13 weeks
- Schedule: Nights, 3x12s, 7:00 PM–7:30 AM
- Weekly schedule notes: Every other weekend; one holiday and one eve during the holiday period; no call
- Patient ratio: 1:6, with possible stretch to 1:7
Required Qualifications
- Valid RN license in North Carolina
- Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
- Orthopedics experience within the last year
- Orthopedics (2 years of experience)
- One completed travel assignment
- BLS issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
- Experience with Epic
Preferred Qualifications
- ACLS certification
Clinical Focus
- Pre-op and post-op orthopedic care
- Elective and trauma patients
- Total hip, knee, and shoulder replacements and repairs
- Orthopedic trauma
Key Responsibilities / Unit Details
- Use of Rapid Response Teams
- Work with safe patient handling equipment and orthopedic equipment, including CPM, knee immobilizer, bone foam, and similar devices
Compliance Notes
- Candidate must be flexible with scheduling and aware of a zero-tolerance policy for tardiness and unexcused absences
- Compliance deadline is 12 noon EST on the Wednesday before the start date
- Government-issued photo ID and Social Security card are required
- 2 supervisory references are required
- Employment application/resume must include 7 years of work history
- Work history verification is required for the last 5 years
- Annual skills checklist is required
- Health history form, badge photo, floating policy, contractor equipment acknowledgement, dress code, and job description review are required
- Fit mask, Tdap, TB screening, MMR immunity, varicella immunity, Hep B status, and drug screening are required
- Flu vaccination or approved exemption is required during flu season
- Background check and education verification are required
- Pass/fail medication/pharmacology competency and competency exam are required as applicable
- Color vision testing is required as applicable
