Description
Job Opportunity: CVOR Registered Nurse
Location: Indianapolis, Indiana
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Position Overview
- Role: Circulating nurse in Cardiovascular Operating Room (CVOR)
- Scrubbing not required
- Float to other OR specialties required
- Call requirement: Approximately 100 hours per 6 weeks, including 1 call weekend (Friday evening to Monday morning) every 6 weeks
- Shift: Day shift, 4 shifts per week, 10 hours each (11:00 AM – 9:30 PM)
- Guaranteed hours vary by schedule:
- 8 or 10-hour shifts: 40 hours/week
- 3 twelve-hour shifts: 36 hours/week
- 4 twelve-hour shifts: 48 hours/week
- Must work 2 out of 3 major holidays
Required Qualifications
- Valid RN license in Indiana
- Minimum 2 years of Cardiovascular Operating Room (CVOR) nursing experience
- CVOR experience within the last year
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association
- Experience working with Level 1 Trauma patients
Facility & Work Environment
- Type: Short-Term Acute Care Facility
- Average daily census: 70-80 patients
- Charting system: Cerner
- Parking: Free
Background & Compliance Requirements
- Background check required within 90 days of start, including:
- 7-year residential/work history
- SSN trace, county/state/national criminal checks
- National sex offender registry
- FACIS Level III
- Education verification (may be pending at start)
- EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks required within 30 days of start
- Drug screen: Negative 10-panel drug test within 12 months of start (includes amphetamines, marijuana, cocaine, opiates, PCP)
- Education verification by third party required
- References: Minimum 2 from recent employment, verified within 2 years, must be from charge, manager, supervisor, or above
- Employment application must be current and explain any gaps of 30+ days within last 7 years
- Skills checklist required within 12 months of start and annually thereafter
Health & Immunization Requirements
- Physical exam within 12 months of start
- Fit mask test within 12 months (approved respirators include specific 3M and Honeywell N95 models)
- Tuberculosis screening (PPD, QuantiFERON-TB Gold, or T-SPOT) within 1 year of start; if positive, chest x-ray within 2 years required
- Immunizations or positive titers required for:
- Rubeola (Measles)
- Mumps
- Rubella
- Varicella (history not accepted, vaccination required if titer negative)
- Hepatitis B series, titer, or signed declination
- Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap strongly recommended (not required)
- Seasonal flu vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption required annually during flu season (9/30 – 3/31)
- Color blind exam (Ishihara or equivalent) with 100% minimum score required
Additional Notes
- Indiana RN travelers in perioperative/OR specialties are exempt from a facility restriction effective 11/30/2024 that limits IN RN travelers
- Charge pay available (additional pay for charge nurse duties)
- Candidates must provide 2-3 days of interview availability when submitting
- Facility-specific orientation and compliance documents must be completed as a priority prior to start
