GI Lab RN

Overview

  • Specialty: Procedural Sedation RN / GI Lab
  • Location: Rio Rancho, New Mexico
  • Employment type: Travel/Contract
  • Contract length: 13 weeks
  • Shift: Day, 5x8 hours, 7:00 AM–3:30 PM
  • Hours per week: 40
  • Weekend requirement: Every other weekend
  • On-call: Required
  • Floating: May float within scope to meet facility needs
  • Block scheduling: Not available
  • First-time travelers: Accepted
  • Local candidates: Not accepted within 100 miles
  • RTO restriction: Time off greater than 7 days requires approval

Required Qualifications

  • Valid RN license in New Mexico
  • GI Lab experience within the last year
  • 1 year of GI Lab experience
  • Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
  • ACLS issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
  • BLS issued by American Red Cross or American Heart Association
  • Interventional Radiology experience

Relevant Clinical Experience / Skills

  • Conscious sedation administration and monitoring
  • Dysrhythmia interpretation and management
  • Specimen handling and labeling
  • Colonoscopy
  • ERCP
  • EGD
  • IR/GI sedation cases
  • Laser-assisted procedures
  • Angioplasty
  • Upper and lower extremity angiography
  • Radiation and laser safety
  • Richmond Agitation-Sedation Scale
  • Vascular closure systems

Compliance / Pre-Start Requirements

  • Background check
  • Fingerprinting
  • Physical exam within 1 year of start
  • Fit mask within 1 year of start
  • Tdap vaccine
  • Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 1 year of start
  • Annual TB questionnaire
  • Negative 10-panel drug screen within 30 days of start
  • Flu vaccination or approved exemption/documentation
  • Two professional references within 3 years of hire
  • Unit-specific skills checklist, updated annually
