Description
Registered Nurse (RN) – Stepdown (Nights)
Location: Petoskey, Michigan
Employment Type: Temporary
Shift: Nights
Hours per Day: 12
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Description
- Provide nursing care on a Stepdown unit specializing in cardiovascular patients, including those recovering from procedures such as PTCA, stents, TAVR, MitraClip, bi-ventricular pacemakers, and open heart surgery (18-24 hours post-op).
- Care for patients with congestive heart failure and electrophysiology studies.
- Participate in clinical trials managed by the research department.
- Work in a unit recognized for excellence in cardiac care and patient outcomes.
- May be required to float to similar units as needed.
- The Stepdown unit is a 28-bed Medical Surgical Unit with a diverse patient population including general and vascular surgery, bariatric surgery, plastic surgery, trauma, and stroke patients.
- Emphasis on patient-centered, evidence-based, and holistic care within a collaborative interdisciplinary team.
- Orientation and ongoing support provided for new team members.
Required Qualifications
- Valid RN license in Michigan
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
- Cardiac Stepdown experience within the last year
- 1 year of Cardiac Stepdown experience
- Stepdown experience
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
- EKG comfortability
Important Policies
- Strict 3-strike attendance policy: termination after 3 absences or late arrivals (over 20 minutes) unless excused for communicable disease or hospitalization with documentation. Policy effective starting 6/1/2024.
- Full-time employees of the health system are not eligible for contract hire within six months of employment.
- Local traveler policy: candidates living within 35 miles of the facility are considered local travelers.
