Description
Job Opportunity: MRI Tech
Location: Orangeburg, South Carolina
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Position Details
- Specialty: Radiology / Cardiology
- Shift: Monday to Friday, 12:30 PM – 9:00 PM (5x8s)
- On-Call: Yes, rotation among staff (Monday-Friday 6 PM – 5:30 AM; weekends from Saturday 5:30 AM to Monday 5:30 AM)
- Weekend Requirement: Possible if on call
- Floating: No floating between units or facilities required
Required Qualifications
- Minimum 1 year of experience as an MRI Technologist, including experience within the last year
- Completion of at least one travel assignment as an MRI Technologist
- Current BLS (Basic Life Support) certification
- Certification by ARRT (MR) or ARMRIT

Important Notes
- Hurricane Season: June through November. Travelers may be assigned to emergency response teams during this period. Avoid confirming new or extension assignments during hurricane season if this is a concern.
- Facility allows calling off 1 shift per 2 weeks.
- Local candidates may be considered on a case-by-case basis.
Compliance and Documentation Requirements
- Proof of work eligibility (I-9, Social Security Card, Driver’s License/State ID)
- Background checks including:
- 7-year history verification
- National and state criminal checks
- Sex offender registry
- OFAC Sanctions List
- Education verification (diploma or transcripts preferred)
- Certifications must be current and valid (no expiration within 30 days of start)
- Facility-specific orientation modules and first day instructions must be completed prior to start
- Clear, passport-style photo required for badge
- Physical exam updated annually attesting ability to meet job demands
- Immunizations and health screenings required:
- Tdap within 10 years or declination form
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 90 days
- Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Varicella immunity or vaccination/booster documentation
- Hepatitis B titer or vaccination series or declination
- Flu vaccine or medical/religious exemption during flu season (Aug-April)
- 10-panel drug screen within 90 days of start
- Respirator medical clearance annually (RespSafety questionnaire)
- Medication/pharmacology competency exam and color blindness test required prior to start
Additional Information
- Facility uses a system for tracking and verifying licensure and certifications; all hits on licensure must be approved by the facility.
- SC RN license process details provided for nursing staff (not applicable for MRI Techs).
- COVID-19 vaccinations are highly preferred but not required; vaccination records must be uploaded or a declination form completed.
- Radiation badge process applies to other radiology roles but not required for MRI Techs.
- Travelers must complete all required labs within 48 hours after signing the contract.
This position is ideal for experienced MRI Technologists with Philips equipment experience who are comfortable with on-call rotations and working in a Level III Trauma environment. Prior travel experience is required (first-time travelers not accepted).
