Job Opportunity: ER Registered Nurse
Location: Orangeburg, South Carolina
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Position Details
- Specialty: Registered Nurse (ER)
- Shift: Nights, 3 shifts per week, 12 hours each (7:00 PM – 7:00 AM)
- Patient Ratios: Based on acuity
- Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend
- On-call: Not applicable
- Floating: Required to float within scope to meet facility and department needs
Required Qualifications
- Valid RN license in South Carolina
- ED - Emergency Department (2 years of experience)
- ED - Emergency Department experience within the last year
- Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
- BLS issued by American Heart Association
- ACLS issued by American Heart Association
- NIHSS
- Experience with Epic
Additional Requirements
- Background Checks:
- Annual background check covering all locations lived/worked in past 7 years
- SSN Trace, Statewide, National Criminal, Sex Offender Registry, FACIS 3, EPLS/GSA/SAM, HHS/OIG
- Education Verification: Required; diploma or transcripts accepted as placeholder if needed
- Drug Testing: 10-panel drug screen within 90 days of start
- Health Documents:
- Annual physical exam attesting ability to meet physical demands
- Immunizations and titers for Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Varicella, Hepatitis B, Tdap (within 10 years or declination form)
- Negative TB test (T-spot or Q-Gold within 90 days) or chest X-ray if prior positive
- Annual TB questionnaire
- COVID vaccination highly preferred; declination form required if not vaccinated
- Seasonal flu vaccination or medical/religious exemption required during flu season (Aug 1 – Mar 31)
- Respirator medical clearance annually (RespSafety questionnaire)
- Competency Exams: Medication/pharmacology competency exam and color blindness test required prior to start
- References: Proof of 2 clinical references or hospital evaluations
- Employment History: Verification of last 3 clinical employers (or fewer if applicable)
Orientation and Facility Specifics
- Orientation Modules: Must be completed prior to start; estimated 4-6 hours for this location
- First Day Instructions: Provided after clearance; includes OurDay platform access for uploading vaccine documentation
- Badge Photo: Clear, passport-style photo with solid light background, frontal view, business casual attire, no hats or sunglasses; must be submitted by Wednesday before start
- Parking: No cost
- Scrub Color: Royal Blue
Work Conditions and Miscellaneous
- Guaranteed Hours: Facility may call off 1 shift every 2 weeks
- Local Radius: 60 miles
- Locals Accepted: Yes, on a case-by-case basis
- Hurricane Season: Travelers may be assigned to emergency response teams from June through November; peak activity in August and September
This position is ideal for ER nurses with at least 2 years of experience who are comfortable working night shifts and floating within similar units. Strong Epic EHR skills and required certifications are essential.
