Location
Oklahoma City, Oklahoma
Contract Length
13 weeks
Schedule
10-hour shifts, 40 hours per week
Overview
Provides nursing care for patients with a range of health problems under general supervision in a hospital setting.
Required Qualifications
- Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
- Valid RN license in Oklahoma
- Ambulatory Surgery (2 years of experience)
- Ambulatory Surgery experience within the last year
- BLS issued by American Heart Association
- ACLS issued by American Heart Association
- PALS issued by American Heart Association
- Excellent IV skills
- Instilling prescribed pupil-dilating drops
- Manage airways in patients aged 6 months to age 95
- Familiarity with surgical eye cases (cataracts, cornea, retina, glaucoma, plastics)
- PACU - Post Anesthesia Care experience
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing or higher from a board-approved program
- Minimum 2 years of nursing experience
- Excellent IV skills
- Experience with instilling prescribed pupil-dilating drops
- Experience with patient interviews and assessments
- Ability to recover phase 1 PACU patients
- Ability to manage airways
- Ability to manage pain or nausea in patients ages 6 months to 95 years
- Familiarity with surgical eye cases, including cataracts, cornea, retina, glaucoma, and plastics
- Ability to maintain a fast pace and work well in a team
Key Responsibilities
- Manage an assigned group of patients
- Document patient responses to nursing interventions and prescribed medical treatments, including changes in physician orders
- Assist physicians with examinations and minor diagnostic procedures and treatment
- Obtain and monitor physiological data and intervene when necessary
- Administer medications as prescribed
- Initiate, regulate, and monitor intravenous infusions and blood products
- Deliver patient care competently
- Communicate care plans and discharge information to patients and families
- Inform patients and families about hospital procedures
- Make referrals regarding patient care needs to appropriate personnel
- Delegate tasks to support staff
- Perform other assigned duties
