Description
Operating Room RN
Overview
- Specialty: Registered Nurse
- Location: Hurricane, West Virginia
- Employment type: Travel/Contract
- Contract length: 13 weeks
- Shift: Day, 5x8 hours, 6:50 AM–3:20 PM
- Weekly schedule: Monday–Friday
- Call: 1–2 call shifts per week, plus 1 weekend of call per month
- Guaranteed hours: 32–40 hours per week
- First-time travelers: Not accepted
- Local candidates: Accepted within a 100-mile radius
- Floating: Not required
Required Qualifications
- Valid RN license in West Virginia
- 2 years of Operating Room experience
- Operating Room experience within the last year
- One completed travel assignment
- ACLS certification issued by the American Heart Association
- BLS certification issued by the American Heart Association
- Associate of Science in Nursing or Associate Degree in Nursing
- Driver's License
- Ortho Trauma experience
Schedule and Work Expectations
- Orientation is held every other Friday
- Weekend work is on-call only
- One RN is assigned to 1 or 2 surgical techs
Compliance and Onboarding
- Valid driver’s license
- Social Security card
- Clean license verification
- 2 manager/charge references from the past 2 years
- Background check
- Drug screen
- Physical exam
- Fit testing
- TB screening
- Tdap vaccination
- Measles, mumps, rubella, and varicella immunity or vaccination documentation
- Hepatitis B documentation
- Annual skills checklist
- Annual nursing competency testing
- Annual medication/pharmacology competency exam
- Annual color blindness testing
- Annual in-service training completion
- State license verification
- NURSYS verification
- Pass/fail testing for nursing
- Blood administration policy review
- RN/LPN math calculation packet review
- EKG review
- Dress code, time and attendance, medical release, liability, and time gap forms
Additional Notes
- Cerner, Omnicell, and Accudose are used for charting/workflow familiarity
- Free parking is available for travelers
