Intermediate Intensive Care Registered Nurse

Job Overview

  • Location: Columbia, South Carolina
  • Employment type: Travel/Contract
  • Shift: Night, 3x12 hours
  • Hours per week: 36
  • Contract length: 13 weeks or 26 weeks
  • Weekend requirement: 6 weekend shifts per 6-week schedule period
  • Holiday requirement: Must work 2 of the 3 holidays: Thanksgiving, Christmas, New Year’s Day
  • Floating: Required to float to other units or campuses as needed, within documented competencies

Required Qualifications

  • Valid RN license in South Carolina
  • Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
  • Intermediate Care (2 years of experience)
  • Intermediate Care experience within the last year
  • ICU - Intensive Care Unit experience
  • One completed travel assignment
  • ACLS - Advanced Cardiac Life Support issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
  • BLS - Basic Life Support issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
  • NIHSS
  • Proficiency in cardiac monitoring and emergency response, including interpretation and management of dysrhythmias and telemetry monitoring
  • Medication management skills including titration of cardiac and vasoactive drips
  • Ventilator experience
  • Experience with Epic

  • Experience with progressive care settings such as PCU, DOU, IMC, or Stepdown may be considered

Unit Details

  • Adult intermediate intensive care setting
  • Patient population includes trauma, medical, surgical, and neurology cases
  • Typical ratio: 1:3
  • Monitoring or interventions may be needed every 1–2 hours
  • Unit receives direct admissions, ICU transfers, and Rapid Response escalations

Scheduling Notes

  • RTO, block scheduling, and special scheduling requests must be submitted with the application and are only accommodated if approved at booking
  • Facility may call off 1 shift per 2 weeks

Additional Notes

  • First-time travelers are accepted
  • Local candidates are accepted, subject to radius rule criteria
  • Pending license is not accepted
  • EPIC experience is required for 1 year
