Respiratory Therapist (RRT)
Location
- Roanoke, Virginia
Assignment Type
- Travel/contract
- 13 weeks
- Night shift: 3x12s, 7:00 PM to 7:00 AM
Schedule Notes
- May include every-other-weekend coverage or 6 weekend shifts in a 6-week block
- Must work one holiday during the contract
- May be required to float within skillset
Required Qualifications
- Valid Registered Respiratory Therapist license in Virginia
- Registered Respiratory Therapist (1 year of experience)
- Registered Respiratory Therapist experience within the last year
- BLS - Basic Life Support issued by American Heart Association
- ACLS - Advanced Cardiac Life Support issued by American Heart Association
- Critical care experience in high-volume ER and Level 1 Trauma Center settings including neurotrauma, cardiovascular services, and medical/surgical ICU
- Aerosol and medication delivery systems proficiency (mask, trach, MDI, Medihaler) with ability to administer Albuterol, Atrovent, Combivent, Flovent, Pulmicort, Mucomyst, racemic epinephrine, inhaled Flolan, inhaled steroids, bicarbonate, and lidocaine
- ABG interpretation and ventilator management (BiPAP, CPAP, HFNC, flow-by, troubleshooting high-pressure alarms, weaning from mechanical ventilation)
- Airway management including extubation, oral/nasal airway placement, suctioning, sputum collection, and tracheostomy care
- Oxygen therapy and nebulizer setup proficiency (handheld, T-piece, trach collar, ultrasonic)
- Experience with Epic

- First-time travelers accepted
- Prior travel experience preferred
Charting
- EPIC experience required
Patient Population
- Adolescents, adults, and geriatrics
Clinical Skills
- Aerosol and medication delivery systems
- Ventilator management, including BiPAP, CPAP, HFNC, and troubleshooting high-pressure alarms
- Weaning from mechanical ventilation
- Tracheostomy care
- Oxygen therapy and nebulizer setups
Compliance / Onboarding
- Driver’s license or state ID required within 48 hours of signing
- E-Verify or attestation required
- 7-year background check required
- Education verification of highest earned degree required
- Transcript or diploma required for RRTs
- Physical exam within 1 year of start
- Fit mask testing within 1 year of start
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 1 year of start
- TB questionnaire required
- Negative 10-panel drug screen within 30 days of start
- 2 clinical references required
- Employment application/resume required
- Skills checklist required
