Observation Unit Registered Nurse

Job details

  • Location: Toledo, Ohio
  • Employment type: Travel/Contract
  • Shift: Day, 3x12 hours
  • Weekly hours: 36
  • Contract length: 13 weeks

  • Patient population: Adults and geriatrics
  • Ratios: 1:4 on all shifts

Required qualifications

  • Valid RN license in Ohio
  • Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
  • PCU - Progressive Care Unit (2 years of experience)
  • PCU - Progressive Care Unit experience within the last year
  • Experience in Charge roles
  • Intermediate medication administration experience (heparin, nitro, cardizem, insulin, etc.)
  • ACLS issued by American Heart Association
  • BLS issued by American Heart Association
  • NIHSS
  • Observation medicine experience
  • Experience with Epic

Preferred experience

  • Observation medicine experience

Schedule and work expectations

  • Weekend requirement: every other weekend
  • Floating required within scope to other units and facilities as needed
  • First-time travelers accepted
  • Local travelers within 50 miles are not accepted
  • Block scheduling not accommodated
  • RTO over 7 days requires management approval

Clinical setting

  • Mixed unit environment including PCU, Med Surg Tele, and Med Surg
  • Telemetry setting
  • Fast-paced observation department with an 18–24 hour length-of-stay goal

Additional notes

  • EPIC charting required
  • Free parking
  • Navy blue scrubs
  • Schedules may change based on staffing needs with two weeks’ notice
