RN - PCU

Location

Overland Park, Kansas

Assignment Details

Travel position
13 weeks
36 hours per week
Unit: Progressive Care Unit
18 beds
Patient ratio: 1:4-5
Self-scheduling with 3 weekend shifts per 4 weeks
No on-call requirement
Floating may be required

Required Qualifications

Valid RN license in Kansas
Telemetry PCU - Progressive Care Unit (2 years of experience)
Telemetry PCU - Progressive Care Unit experience within the last year
ACLS
BLS
NIHSS
Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
Telemetry experience

Unit Overview

Care for cardiac and pulmonary patients with moderate physiologic instability
Common patient types include COPD exacerbation, pneumonia, CHF, and trach patients
Continuous cardiac monitoring is used
Meditech is used for documentation

Equipment and Support

Alaris pumps
Kangaroo pump
Pyxis
Computers in every room

Staffing

2 PCTs
1 unit secretary

Scheduling and Work Expectations

Royal blue uniform
Nursing interventions occur at least every 3-4 hours
Vital signs are taken every 4 hours
Blood glucose monitoring is every 4 hours
Neurological monitoring occurs as needed
