Description
CVICU Registered Nurse
Overview
- Travel/contract role in Winston-Salem, North Carolina
- Day shift: 6:45 AM–7:15 PM
- 36 or 48 hours per week may be offered
- Contract length: 13 weeks
- Local candidates are accepted at the same rate
- No first-time travelers
Required Qualifications
- Valid RN license in North Carolina
- CVICU (2 years of experience)
- CVICU experience within the last year
- One completed travel assignment
- ACLS issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
- BLS issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
- NIHSS
- Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
- 2 years of critical care experience
- Interpretation of dysrhythmias
- Management of dysrhythmias
- ECMO experience
- Intra-Aortic Balloon Pump (IABP) management
- Post Cardiac Surgery care (directly from the OR)
- Pulmonary Artery Line/Swan Ganz monitoring
- Transcatheter Aortic Valve Replacement (TAVR) experience
- Ventricular Assist Device (LVAD/RVAD) management
- Arterial line management
- Central line care and management
Unit Details
- Post open heart recovery unit
- Also cares for thoracotomies, esophagogastrectomies, and TAVR patients
- Unit uses SBAR for communication
- Float required
- Every other weekend required
- Self-scheduling
Key Clinical Skills
- Dysrhythmia interpretation and management
- ECMO
- Intra-aortic balloon pump management
- Post-cardiac surgery care directly from the OR
- Pulmonary artery line/Swan Ganz monitoring
- LVAD/RVAD management
- Arterial line management
- Blood product administration
- Central line care and management
- Continuous IV sedation
- Cardiac drip titration
- Ventilated patient care
- ABG interpretation
- Isolation precautions/PPE
Preferred Skills
- Port access and management
- Vasoactive drip titration
- Chest tube insertion/removal assistance
- BiPAP/CPAP management and maintenance
- High-flow nasal cannula
- Ventilator management
Scheduling and Orientation
- Target ratios: 1:1 nights, 2:1 weekends
- Hospital orientation occurs during the first week, with daily class attendance required
- Scrubs: navy, white, or a combination of both
Compliance Notes
- RTO after booking is not allowed
- Additional RTO or call-offs may result in cancellation and DNR status
