Description

Registered Nurse - Orthopedic Surgery

Location: Aurora, Colorado
Employment Type: Travel
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Hours per Week: 36


Unit Information

  • Specialty: Orthopedic/Spine
  • Unit Type: Orthopedic/Spine care including joint replacements, fracture repairs, and spinal injuries
  • Facility Size: 345 beds, 3-time Magnet Designation
  • Staffing: Float pool of about 80 staff; day and night shifts staffed by RNs and CNAs
  • Patient Ratios: Approximately 1:5 (varies by unit and shift)
  • Equipment: Various orthopedic-related equipment
  • EMR System: Meditech

Required Qualifications

  • Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Colorado
  • Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
  • Minimum 1 year of orthopedic surgery experience within the last year
  • Acute care experience including medical-surgical (Med Surg) nursing
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
  • De-escalation skills in a healthcare setting

Preferred Qualifications

  • ACLS certification
  • Chemotherapy certification (for potential scheduling on Oncology unit)

Job Responsibilities & Environment

  • Provide nursing care for orthopedic patients including those undergoing joint replacements, fracture repairs, and spinal injury treatment
  • Flexibility and willingness to float between units as needed
  • Work collaboratively in a team-oriented, family-like environment
  • Opportunity to learn and care for patients with a variety of acute and chronic medical issues
