Description
Operating Room RN
Overview
- Travel/contract role in Charleston, West Virginia
- 13-week assignment
- Day shift: 3x12 hours, 9:00 AM–9:00 PM or 11:00 AM–11:00 PM
- On-call required
- Weekend work required
- Guaranteed hours: 36 per week
Required Qualifications
- Valid RN license in West Virginia
- Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
- OR - Operating Room (1 year of experience)
- OR - Operating Room experience within the last year
- BLS issued by American Heart Association
- ACLS issued by American Heart Association
- Driver's License
- Circulate and scrub experience in the operating room
- Vein harvesting proficiency
- Radial artery harvesting proficiency
- General surgery experience including colorectal resections, laparoscopic assisted surgeries, whipples, liver resections, thyroids, and mastectomies
- Robotic surgery experience in gynecology, colorectal, hernias, and laparoscopic Nissen procedures
- Gynecologic surgery experience including abdominal and vaginal hysterectomies, posterior and anterior repairs
- Thoracic Surgery experience
- Vascular Surgery experience
- Orthopedic Surgery experience
- ENT Surgery experience
Schedule and Call
- 1 day of call per week
- 1–2 weekend call shifts per 4–5 week schedule
- 30-minute response time when on call
- Every other weekend call coverage
Clinical Skills
- Vascular procedures, including AV fistulas/grafts, aortic surgeries/bypasses, femoral-to-popliteal or distal bypasses, carotids, and embolectomies
- Orthopedic arthroscopies and total joints
- General surgery, including colorectal/colon resections, laparoscopic-assisted surgeries, Whipples, liver resections, thyroids, and mastectomies
- ENT procedures, including trachs, laryngectomies, and radical neck dissections
- Urology procedures, including cystectomies, nephrectomies, prostatectomies, implants, and cystoscopy-related procedures
- Robotics cases, including gynecology, colorectal, hernias, and lap Nissens
- Gynecologic procedures, including abdominal/vaginal hysterectomies and anterior/posterior repairs
Additional Requirements
- Flu vaccination required unless a documented medical exemption is approved
- COVID-19 vaccination is not required
- Must be able to provide a driver’s license and Social Security documentation
- Must complete pre-start onboarding, competency, and health documentation requirements
Work Environment
- Short-term acute care, level IV trauma center, major teaching hospital
- Average daily census: 22 cases
- Scrub color: royal blue, white, or a combination of both
- Cerner charting system
- Free parking for travelers
Notes
- First-time travelers are accepted if experience requirements are met
- Candidates within 75–99 miles may be submitted for facility approval; 100-mile radius rule applies
- Permanent employees cannot return as travelers for 2 years after their last permanent day worked
