Description
PCU Registered Nurse
Overview
- Travel/contract role in Winston Salem, North Carolina
- 13-week assignment
- Night shift: 3x12 hours, 18:45–07:15
- 36 or 48 hours per week may be offered
- Accepts first-time travelers
- Local candidates accepted
- No block scheduling
- Every other weekend required
- Floating required as needed to a sister ICU/ICCU unit
- Target ratio: 1:3–4
Required Qualifications
- Valid RN license in North Carolina
- PCU - Progressive Care Unit (2 years of experience)
- PCU - Progressive Care Unit experience within the last year
- ACLS issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
- BLS issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
- NIHSS
- Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
- Experience with arterial lines and titrating vasoactive drips
- Experience with conscious sedation
- Interpretation of dysrhythmias
- Management of dysrhythmias
- Use of Rapid Response Teams
- IV insulin protocols
- Blood Product Administration
- Central line care and management
- PICC line management
- Heparin Protocols
Clinical Skills and Unit Experience
- Telemetry monitoring and dysrhythmia interpretation/management
- IV insulin protocols
- Blood product administration
- Central line, peripheral line, and PICC line care/management
- Heparin protocols
- CVA care
- Chest tubes
- External CPAP/BIPAP
- High-flow nasal cannula
- Nasal cannula
- Non-invasive airway management
- Tracheostomy management
- Isolation precautions
- Use of rapid response teams
Unit Setting
- ICU-stepdown environment that runs more like an ICU
- Post-rapid-response patients
- Patients with respiratory distress, unstable hemodynamics, withdrawal, GI bleeds, and post-op surgical cases
- No vents on the unit
- Bedside telemetry monitors with remote backup
- Pressor drips used on the unit, with one pressor drip per patient
Additional Notes
- RTO after booking is not allowed
- Up to 7 days of RTO may be allowed for auto-offer consideration
- Hospital orientation is during week one, and the traveler must be available for classes each day
- Navy, white, or a combination of the two scrubs are required
