Description
Labor and Delivery RN
Overview
- Location: Seattle, Washington
- Employment type: Travel/Contract
- Shift: Night, 3x12 hours
- Hours per week: 36
- Contract length: 13 weeks
- Schedule notes: Posted every 6 weeks and adjusted to unit needs
- First-time travelers: Accepted
Required Qualifications
- Valid RN license in Washington
- Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
- Labor and Delivery (3 years of experience)
- Labor and Delivery experience within the last year
- 2 years of experience in high acuity and high pace environments
- High-risk obstetric experience
- BLS - Basic Life Support issued by American Heart Association or Heart and Stroke Foundation
- NRP - Neonatal Resuscitation Procedure
- EFM - Electronic Fetal Monitoring
- Ability to circulate in the operating room
- Newborn care including eye care, Vitamin K injections, thigh assessment, and newborn assessment
- Post Partum experience
- Antepartum experience
Required Certifications
- BLS
- NRP
Preferred Certifications
- ACLS
- AWHONN Advanced
- AWHONN Intermediate
Clinical Expectations
- Float to postpartum and antepartum
- May float to sister facilities that provide mother/baby care
- Work every other weekend and holidays as needed
- Experience with high-risk, high-volume labor and delivery
- Role includes functioning as baby nurse during delivery and continuing newborn care until transfer to postpartum
Unit Details
- 4 operating rooms
- 31 rooms
- 31 beds
- Average daily census: 15
- Approximately 500–600 deliveries per month
Additional Notes
- EPIC familiarity is required
- Electronic fetal monitoring experience is expected
- Staffing follows AWHONN guidelines
- Heparin, insulin, and magnesium sulfate are part of the unit’s clinical context
