NICU RN Travel/Contract Job

Overview

  • Specialty: Registered Nurse
  • Location: Clinton, Maryland
  • Employment type: Travel/Contract
  • Shift: Day, 3x12 hours, 7:00 AM–7:00 PM
  • Contract length: 13 weeks

Required Qualifications

  • Valid RN license in Maryland
  • Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
  • NICU - Neonatal Intensive Care (2 years of experience)
  • NICU - Neonatal Intensive Care experience within the last year
  • One completed travel assignment
  • BLS - Basic Life Support issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
  • NRP - Neonatal Resuscitation Procedure
  • CPAP experience
  • Proficiency in respiratory support via High Flow O2, CPAP, Bubble CPAP, and mechanical ventilation
  • Management of central lines
  • Peripheral IV insertion skills
  • Knowledge of apnea and bradycardia related to pre-term infants
  • Stabilization of newborns less than 32 weeks and preparation for transport to Level III facility
  • Thermoregulation management in premature and full-term infants related to passive cooling
  • Proficiency in neonatal resuscitation
  • BD Alaris Smart Pump operation
  • Post Partum experience

Schedule Requirements

  • Every other weekend
  • Every other holiday

Unit / Clinical Expectations

  • Float to Postpartum and Labor & Delivery for neonatal care
  • Proficiency with respiratory support using High Flow O2, CPAP, Bubble CPAP, and mechanical ventilation
  • Proficiency with central line management, peripheral IV insertion, lab draws, and IV antibiotic administration
  • Experience with neonatal stabilization, thermoregulation, apnea/bradycardia management, and neonatal resuscitation

Health Requirements

  • Flu vaccination or approved exemption required
  • Annual physical exam
  • Negative TB test or chest X-ray
  • TB questionnaire
  • Documentation of immunity or vaccination for measles, mumps, rubella, varicella, and hepatitis B
  • Drug screen within 90 days of start
  • N95 fit test within 9 months of start and updated annually

Additional Notes

  • Locals within 60 miles are accepted at a lower rate
  • Facility requires employees to have the flu vaccine
