RN - PeriOp - Outpatient Surg Ctr - Days

Job Overview

  • Contract role in State College, Pennsylvania
  • 13-week assignment
  • 8-hour day shifts
  • Variable start time between 0600 and 0700, Monday through Friday
  • No weekends, holidays, or call

Required Qualifications

  • Valid RN license in Pennsylvania
  • Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
  • Perioperative experience with 2 years of experience
  • Perioperative experience within the last year
  • BLS
  • PACU - Post Anesthesia Care experience

Key Responsibilities

  • Assess and respond to patients’ physical, psychosocial, and spiritual needs
  • Communicate patient assessments to the appropriate care team members
  • Implement nursing care and physician orders accurately and on time
  • Admit patients to the surgical center efficiently
  • Document in the patient record using computer systems accurately and promptly
  • Verify required patient record information for correct surgical procedures
  • Complete final chart review, including paperwork and site marking
  • Provide patient and family education
  • Manage supplies, equipment, and resources according to policy
  • Assist with housekeeping tasks as needed
  • Provide PACU care, including airway management, vital sign monitoring, pain control, and discharge readiness assessment
  • Support patient transfers to the medical center
  • Float as needed to maintain workflow and assist staff
  • Work in pain management and eye laser procedure rooms
  • Assist with anesthesia supplies, nerve blocks, and emergency cart readiness
  • Participate in committee meetings and contribute suggestions for improvement
